What's the go on deer scraps

Came across a couple of these on Sunday.

I know they are fresh due to the heavy rain we had on Friday.

Not far from a wallow but not evidence of it being used recently.

I know Sika and Fallow make scraps but I would think it highly unlikely they would be in this particular spot.

So do Reds scrap as well?

Yeh, I m no expert but I think they piss on the ground then scrape it up then kneel down and roll their neck and flanks in it to get that staggy stank.

Sort of like stag old spice to impress the ladies.

Hinds do it too during the roar but not as often as stags

Okay, that makes sense. I didn't realise Reds do that so I was a bit confused when I found them. Guess it means I was in the right area then.

All animals make a "scrape" of some description. Which is a territory marker.
Take a look at a farm that runs bulls. Holes dug everywhere by bulls trying to mark out their patch.
Even tagging is a pathetic form of marking territory.

    Overkill is still dead.

Give it the sniff test next time and you’ll get an idea how fresh it is.
Shut up, get out & start pushing!
