Ive heard that ferrel cattle arnt that good quality? can anyone verifly this......and uncle up north reckons they taste like shit.

well i wipped the back steaks of a 600kg + fresian bull that i had to shoot and it wasnt great. their is a reason they go straight into mcdonalds burgers... cant imagine a feral would be flash

As an observation, our home kill beef hangs in a chiller for at least a week before breaking down....................Any hint there as to why your beefie steak was tough?

I have a few un tagged cattle if someone snotted them over I would be feral.

My personal take on this that you are full of shit...reason #1: If DoC had issued you a permit to hunt feral cattle, then the terms and conditions would have been spelt out to you on it...reason #2: You have made no further comment on the subject.
There is enough problems with hunters trying to get access to hunting areas without pricks like you winding people up.

whoah there...I have already had that cleared up by another poster. I acknowledged that I was probably wrong about my permit. I am talking to people to find out what the real answer is. As for trying to wind people up, you guys do that to yourself. I am just trying to get a simple answer. I apologise if you were offended by me not posting as often as other posters!

Be due to having a dangling bag full of testosterone. Generally eating beef are steers if male.

didnt mention it being tough kiwisnapper.... it was the taste...

was also chilled for 4 days in the fridge

I shot a cow across the lake years ago. I was with a Butcher mate at the time. We quartered the animal, this was on a Saturday. Les commented at the time that it was in good nick. Anyway the following Thursday after it had been hanging in his chiller we cut it up. I must admit I was quite excited to be getting all of this beef after living off Pork and Venison for so many years. The meat was horrible and very gamy, Les reckoned it was because of the tucker it was living on, even the mince wasn't that palatable. The animal would of been miles from the nearest farm or forestry as the crow flies, and as it was going to eat me at the time I put a couple of 303 shots into it. Talk about exciting stuff.
