Thread: when is a goats head worth keeping?

Me and a mate went and did our part for the forestry and did a goat cull, now I shot a Billy with a rack measuring 30.5 inches from point to point with even twists and lengths, just wondering if it was worth keeping just as something for the shed

If I remember correctly to qualify for the NZDA books a goat needs a 30 inch spread? Not sure about twists etc

30.5 sounds pretty decent to me, I have one that looked huge to me when I shot it but IIRC only measured around 26" when I got home. Maybe it shrunk on the way.

If it has good memories of the hunt associated with it, and/or is better than any other ones you've shot then you may as well keep it, I'm not really a trophy hunter but to me they should be more about that than whether or not they impress other people.

bloody oats mate!!!!!....... if you like it then put it up in your shed and post a pic on here for us to see. In NZ the record is 42.9" and so 30" is a good start to your trophy goat head collection.

New Zealand record must be well over 42.9'' this old stinker is 44'' and I have another in my shop that was 47'' and has shrunk to 45 after 8 years

if you don't mind me asking, wat sorta price is it to get a mounting like that, I ain't a trophy hunter but if luck came my way and I got a decent stag, id prob want to get it mounted

Trophy goats start at 30. But as stated above my trophies are more sentimental than anythjng.

I have a tiny goat head in my room only because it looks awesome. But as everyone has said 30+

here it is, i named it grizzly, only hoping that my iron goat would attract more, unfortunatly not
