Where for a family hunting holiday ?

    Hey guys,
I'm looking to take the family (Wife and two kids (6&4)) on a hunting holiday this summer and I'd like some advice on a good place to go. They have not been hunting much and I'm keen that they come to understand what I love about it. We normally spend $1500ish (although we don't have to) on our family holiday so I'm thinking possibly a fly in. We are from the Manawatu so anywhere in the Kaimanawas/Kawekas/Ruahines/Tauraruas. Looking at 3 nights, 4 days type of thing.

    I'm thinking somewhere:

That will have deer so I can hopefully see/shoot something
Open where I can use my 338 Edge
High (?) where they can see for miles and enjoy the sunrise and sunsets
Some features like a stream or river to keep the kids occupied
Private (?) Where I don't have to worry about other hunters

    Anyone got any ideas?
If my work annoys me, I cull them

One of the Helisika blocks would be perfect, Oamaru or similar.

No open tops at oamaru though. But a helisika block would be good I agree.

Not open tops but some open valleys where you can shoot a long way.

North Arm is another great one for summer.

Thanks for the replies - I cant seem to find Oamaru private on helisikas website - do they still have it? North arm could be good. Has anyone been to Mangamire saddle?
