Whirinaki
Kia Ora ladies and gents
I was looking at a trip into the Kaimanawa's this week but word from one of my friends and local guides told me to give it another week - 10 days.
However I have never really had a crack at reds in the BOP and pretty keen to give it a wack.
I don't know the area at all (Whirinaki) but was thinking of driving in by Waione Flats there and poking my nose east towards the steeper country. Looking at a weekday trip this week sometime. If anyone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction, I would be more than happy to repay the favor for the Kaimanawas. I'm gonna get out there regardless.
Cheers
Scott

I dont need any repayment but access into central and upper whirinaki huts can be gained via the plateau hut track. Roaf access from Napier highway and thru waipunga road and matea forest. Once have a permit from doc of course. The road route through matea pines is signposted. Ypu can get up to Te Taumutu ridge from upper whirinaki hut.
