I doubt that there is too much that DOC don't know. They turn a blind eye to a lot of stuff when it suits them.
And we are being naive if we think that hunters can keep a secret for long, anyway. Someone always has to do the big noting and blab.

Very much so. My brother told a mate of ours a spot that holds good fallow that we hunt and last weekend the guy let me know he was taking his mate there and asked if I wanted to join. No concerns for courtesy in going straight to a mates place they've just confided in you with but what made it worse was they got back to town and the same day blabbed and gloated about this great new spot to the biggest poacher in town!! So he'll be out there spotlighting flat out now with his mates.
the better the spot the quieter you have to be I say haha
Iv only ticked off the Sambar and Fellow so a way to go yet. Sick of Sambar need to venture out more
Hey Sambar, i've never even seen one, never mind shot one, if its no secret 'spot X' i would love to have a go at one....im not greedy....and i know how to keep my mouth shut!!!!!!!
Wasnt going to comment on this thread as ive only shot a 'farmed' Fallow.....still after my first 'wild' deer......
Having stalked sambar in both counties I reckon stalking them in Aussie is more fun. But that maybe due to the novelty of hunting in another country.
Yes, our biggest heads have gone bigger than Aussies, (many moons ago, hard going to match some of the early BOP heads taken) but your average head over there is better. If that makes sense?
Yeh I know what you mean, I saw a good one shot in NZ about 2 years ago and then a cracker at the guides house in NZ that his mate had taken in 2011 as well. Like any deer though I spose the goodns are few and far between.
They are awesome fun to hunt here though, when you don't pick the same spot as a bunch of hound hunting morons who spook the whole fucking area up.
Only a Wap and a Rusa to go. Could of shot a Rusa hind so I did with the camera does that count?

only a sika,sambar,wapiti,rusa,whitetail,.....to go:thumbsup: and a moose.
Yea they are cool but im not into heads and to be honest all the real good heads around where I live are either sold or poached. There is only so many sausages one can eat before he needs a steak and sambar steak is a bit hit and miss.
But Yes they are very impressive animals
I got a red,2 japs.a fallow,and a whitetail all in the same month,all stags but not flash one,s.
