Will I score my first deer this Sunday

    Hi guys

Heading out this Sunday for hunt with a mate to spot X. Excited as I am, do you think I will get my 1st animal down finally...

Wish me luck and watch this space for update later in the evening on Sunday the 20th...

Don't set the bar too high. Hope it goes to plan

If you get onto a really hot area that is screaming deer, get your mate to stay where he is while you sneak forward into the breeze. Tell your mate to not to move as you may be gone for 30min but will be no more than 50-100m away (if he cries, you should be able to hear him) Any further and you are moving way too fast. Less noise and movement will be your gain if the deer are grazing/browsing

You can never predict what'll happen on a hunt, the only variable you can control is how you hunt.

Deer have a tendency to appear when you least expect it. Keep the wind in your face and your eyes open. Stop regularly and go slowly. If you see a deer and get within range, don't fu*k around, load your rifle, ID your target, get a decent rest and aim for the shoulder, make sure your safety is off and squeeze the trigger...don't pull it

    Good luck.

Good luck, nothing like the taste of venison you've worked hard for and harvested yourself.May the weather gods bless you and the deer co operate.😁

Good skills intiaz, looking forward to the trip report.

I'd say it depends if you've seen fresh sign or actual deer at that spot before. If you have, the chances of you bagging something is a lot better.

I never expect to shoot something the first couple of times I go to any new spot. If you do it is a bonus, but I pretty much work on the fact that you have to study an area first, learn where to look, at what time of the day or which season etc, and get to know it, then your chances on subsequent visits improve a lot...

I wrote up this post as a refresher for myself for all I have seen, read, stalked etc etc from being out there and from this ofrum.. I expected the comments as above to remind me as well as make me more focused for this hunt...

Weather gods will be pissing quite a bit after mid day so I will have to take advantage of the first light in the early hours and see if it works out...
@Gibo will be working out to my full cap to give you the opportunity to change the said name..lol

Thanks everyone for your gud luck charms.. definitely needed that too
