Woodhill block 2
I was lucky enough to draw block 2 in the woodhill ballot this year and we have our hunt tomorrow 24th June. Anyone have any experience or tips for this block?
looks like the weather is going to be shithouse with gale south westerlies so inland road will be upwind of the block.
None of the group has hunted woodhill before so any pointers would be greatly received.
Cheers,
Mark

Thanks Allgood. no worries, should have had my shit together sooner. We had a pretty good day despite the rain and wind. saw a few doe's but we were all on buck permits and the only buck we saw was hightailing it into the cover. plenty of pigs around on that block too. all in all, it was a bloody enjoyable day.

Way back in the day, a work mate got a ballot (think it was the blue outlined block on your OP).
Borrowed a 30/06, borrowed some 165gn SP off the owner and on the appointed day - off we went.
Cloudy but dry, not a lot of wind.
While walking in, got passed by a couple of Army trucks full up with soldiers.
They turned up a side road and disappeared northwards.
About 1 hour later, sounded like a small war had broken out.
10 minutes later, a small group of deer crossed the road in front of us.
We all stood and watched them, but no shots presented as they ran up a side track.
Started raining - and being soft city office types, we started back to the cars, intending to head home.
Just as we got to the gate, the afore mentioned trucks came roaring out, with three or four deer hanging over the tailgates. :wtfsmilie:
Was a lovely day up until then - so stopped at the Henderson pub to drown our luck :P
The start of my "plenty walk, not much seen" days :yaeh am not durnk:
