veitnamcam - I thought so too, and have no answer for it. The damage to the spiker was extensive however it showed the hind had taken most of the brunt of the bullet, the hit to her was also very extensive. I can only guess she lay still with the spiker and fled when she found me approach. How she got that far shows massive strength as she should have stayed where she was.
I wish I had photos as they only bloke with a camera had flat batteries and was unable to take pictures!
Is the meat still good gutting them the next day?
If what I used to get away with selling once or twice a few years ago is anything to go by I would not worry about it.![]()
Like Josh says as long as it wasnt in the sun to long and no meat is taken from around the wound or gut cavity it will be sweet.
Even if clean shot and you do the best job in the world gutting them, they will still smell gutty if left over night.
Nothing to worry about unless you have a grumpy stockman checking the carcass for sale.![]()
