Thread: youtube and firearms

it has come to my attention that youtube (owned by google) will no longer use advertising on any firearm channels. this will stop allot of people from posting on youtube. bloody do-gooding wankers !

I don't think it's strictly that simple. Youtube have had to review their advertising policy after it was noticed that advertisers were being associated with videos containing hate speech, encouraging terrorism, etc. This appears to have affected advertising in general.

Yeah it's real gay and it's not just firearms. A dude called Pewdiepie with a channel of the same name has like 50m+ subscribers - he's a gaming reviewer for goodness sake - had his channel demonetised too. Most of the channels I subscribe to use either Patreon as their revenue earner and / or host their material on Full30.com

He was making videos containing literal nazi material, unsurprisingly advertisers don't wish to be associated with nazis.

Youtube's ad setup is fairly shit though & the balance of power is extremely in the hands of youtube as opposed to the content creators
