so went and lay in the beating sun this morning and put some rounds through the new rifle.
In the past i have shot hornady training 55gr brass ammo and still had 20 rounds left. I bought a box of the H&F 55gr ammo with the hornady projectile. I tried to sight in the rifle with it and it's all over the place with my rifle. I suspect that the 1:8 twist isn't the right setup for them. after 6 rounds and no consistency i put 3 hornady training through and the were very close then another 3 H&F and again random patterning. the wind had come up so i put another 5 hornady training through at 100yds to get the right elevation and did so quite well with a group of about 2" but i have no doubt it'll improve in better conditions and a better setup range. I finished off with another 5 H&F and the grouping was about 12" or more.
i took my hmr as well and put 9 in fairly quick succession at the other target i had on the board. damn they are good, 8 were on the exact same level height wise but left a "join the dots" type line from the bullseye to about 3" to the right and the wind was left to right. I cocked up one of the shots which was low & right but the hmr is very easy to shoot.
