    10/22 bolt mods

After stupidest Decision to sell my full kidd Factory 10/22 rifle a few years back
Ive put together another one well kinda
This one has green mountain barrel
    Kidd 2 stage trigger
    Kidd chargeing handle
    Kidd cross pins
    Kidd bolt buffer
It is currently running an oem bolt with Volquartsen extractor

I have been thinking about buying a kidd bolt
But have been looking at other options and found this on you tube
    https://youtu.be/N1Rbhjyn34U

Looks pretty much exactly the same as a kidd bolt but made from an oem
Also looks like it would be pretty easy to do for a Machinist/gunsmith

Has anyone done something like this to their bolt?

I hear @gundoc is pretty handy with 10/22’s be intrested to hear what he thinks

    Cheers

Most of the honeing, chamfering and rounding you could do yourself. Possibly the same on the extractor but you have a better one so forget I even mentioned it
I am not over fussed on the little pin holding the firing pin down. Doesn't the charging handle hold it down in pretty much the right place?
I also have my doubts on redoing the firing pin profile. is it really that inconsistent?
I do get where they are coming from over having the bolt faces square but wonder how much actual measureable improvement you would get. I would thing the chamber would be more important.

just curious, if you are going all aftermarket, why not kidd barrel? green moutain seems to be the low end of aftermarket offerngs.

Other thing I did done is to face the front of the bolt to rim-thickness- this supposedly jams most ammo brands into the rifling (improves LR accuracy), and supports the case better in the chamber, basically "headspacing"
I did that by facing off the barrel. then loctite'd the barrel into the reciever

    Good question
Simply because I got one at a really good price
It seems to shoot good maybe not quite as good as my kidd Was
I may look at upgrading in the next few months We’ll see how things progress

Did it maybe 94? Interweb wasn't as prevalent so relying on reading material. Cant remember where I read it but I decided to try to get the ammo to start in the rifling as the chamber wasn't exactly match grade and a little sloppy. After a little dicking around I achieved it, with the only downside being the unfired round doesn't usually come out. You have to take the mag out and flick it out with your thumbnail. Maybe a better extractor would help?
Just read something recently where someone did the exact same thing.
I never did empirical testing of before and after but it didn't make it worse-under 1" at 50m. I reckon I have more issues with parallax on the weaver 2-10 for grouping. Really need to try and adjust that out one day.

@mimms2 did the slot but definitely didn't do the extractor.
