Interested to know how many on the forum are using variables with a maximum magnification of 10x.
What is the furthest range you are clearly shooting deer to with 10x.
Cheers.

Can shoot a 10" gong with boring repeatability at 600yds with my 2-10 VX5 no worries. Thinking of selling my 3-15 and just running the smaller one to save some weight

Dont waste your time chasing every last fps, it doesnt matter in the real world, it wont make a difference, all it will do is cause head aches and frustrations. And dont listen to silly old cunts
10 power is plenty for big game. 2-10 scope is a very versatile mag range
Regularly shoot to 600 on 3x, recently did a simulated field shoot at various targets from 70-686 metres and hit every target using 3x just to prove to myself that both I and my rifle setup was capable. Its not the magnification that makes the difference - its the quality of the glass
2.5-8x Leupold, works on a 6 x 6 steel plate to 535m often.
Trust the dog.........................................ALWAYS Trust the dog!!
I target shoot out to a 1000 y with a scope that goes to 60x, it generally only goes to 30x-40x. I hunt with a fixed 6x and I would be comfortable target shooting out to 6-800y with it.
A lot depends on how good your eyes are. I find I'm increasing magnification as my eyes get older.
The saying goes...The older I am, the better I was
Do people use a fixed 10 power? For a tops exclusive rifle or do you guys reckon the versatility of a variable is better.
I find a 10x fixed is too much if hunting in bush, ok for tops
2.5-10x42 Nightforce fantastic wee scope! Have shot steel out to 1000y no worries
