    10X42 vs 8X42

    I'm looking at getting binoculars that will last me a very very long time......Leica HD-B's. My plan is to get 10X42's. But if I get 8X42's they will throw in a set of Ultravid 10X25's for free. At the very least I could sell these. Which has me thinking.......Are 10X42's better than 8X42's???

    10X42's - greater magnification

    8X42's - greater field of view, better light gathering

    What do you guys/girls think?
