Thread: 12 gauge slug accuracy

What kind of accuracy do you guys get.

I was somewhat impressed by my Benelli Supernova Pump with an Aimpoint T1 and Winchester slugs grouped 75 mm at 75 yards smooth bore.

Anyone tried a rifled barrel?

Ive had quite a play with slugs and load my own, bit of an art to get the roll crimp right,
I can get, with quality slugs, and sights about 3-6" groups at 100yards, about 10-12inch groping with no sights. with my 16, 12 gauge smooth bore's,

Rifled shotguns can be very accurate, I had a play with a browning A bolt 12ga for a week, that belonged to an work mate, we had it shooting 1-2" groups with 4 shots at 100 yards. very impressive.

I usually average a fist sized group at 50yds off hand, accurate enough given the rounds effective range. Never tried a rifled 12 gauge.

Gun City had rifle barreled Mossberg 88s for $550 not long ago but they all got snatched up really fast after people started getting buyback money. I'm planning to snag one if they get them back in stock.
