ok so i'm looking into getting some good glas on my tikka t3 308, so ive got a budget of 1500 and seriously looking into importing from the states but there so much selection, i would like a high poowered scope say 6-20 power or more if my budget allows, and as for reticle i'm up or suggestions ?

so far i found these ones

Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x50 Riflescopes and Scopes

What do you want to do with it? Are you looking for long range capability. Do you want every last second of fading light? Ziess glass is real nice but there durability isnt that flash. Id compromise the glass a little and go to a vx3 for hardiness and the ultimate warranty. You need to decide what you want from it.

having 6x as your lowest power on you .308 would seriously limit it's versatility.

i'd love long range capability but i fear if i have that will i compromise on close shots as most hunting in nz is around 100 meters i'd hate to have a scope that can handle long range but be frustrating with closer shots ? what do you guys think of Sightron Premium SIII Scopes and Riflescopes

If you're ever going to hunt the benches and scrub, you need to get down to 2 or 3 power. Or do a 3-gun type rig and run a Docter or C-More STS type unit mounted above or at 45 degrees but that'll just be more crap catching the brush as you stalk.

I think theyre awsome. You can get the superslams too with 4-20x or 3-15 range quite usefull good dialing ability aswell. If your after the one rifle to do it all then make sure the low end mag isnt more than 4

I agree depending on what the intended use of the rifle is? Long range only, multi purpose bush and LR, Target etc?

    Multi purpose I'd go for

    http://theopticzone.com/products-pag...mil-dot-matte/
    or
Bushnell Elite Tactical 3-12x44, G2DMR, Matte | Rifle Scopes

    LR
Sightron SIII 6-24x50 LR MRAD, Mil Dot, Matte | Rifle Scopes
    or
Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50 FFP, G2 DMR, Matte | Rifle Scopes

If budget allows and to cover all bases then this.

Bushnell Elite Tactical 3.5-21x50, G2 DMR, Matte | Rifle Scopes

I put a VX3 4.5-14x50lr on my 308 thinking it would make it more of a do all rifle.
Yep it can do pretty much all but its big and heavy and 4.5 is doable in the bush but 2 or 3 is much better.

Eventually Il put this on something else and put something more light and compact with a lower low range on it.
