For 16" Ar-15's for service rifle - do they have to be carbine length gas systems or can they be mid length?
Basically will a mid length put you in open class.
Cheers

Interested to see responses for this as well.
For LMT or clone it has to be mid-length, but Match Code does not specify specifics for gas system length for M16/M4 clones.

Should be okay under no advantage rule. As technically a 16” barreled carbine isn’t in military service either.

i always bring two uppers 16 &20" . with 16" i'd go for mid length unless with adjustable block.
@Square22
Go to NZSRA website, under Downloads, there is a LMT Spec doc. I think some of the newer version of the service match code Aldo has a section for LMT MARS.

@Square22, basically 16 inch barrel with specific dimensions, mid gas, either M4 or SOPMOD stock, and a monolithic upper - Aero, VLTOR etc

I remember seeing that if were shooting a carbine, it had to have carbine gas, unless it is an LMT or clone.
Has John Herbert confirmed the status of mid length 16” but not a LMT, being ok for service class?
As this will dictate me lending to the Aussies for nationals.

The NZSRA LMT spec states:...
The specifications noted here apply only to the LMT MARS rifle and clones thereof. No specification here is transferrable to standard AR15 rifles as used for Service Rifle Competition.
