CZ one here on its second barrel which is in fact an HMR barrel but it's holding up well, just started looking around for a spare as that barrel to has had a lot of rounds through it now.
I'm surprised what that little bullet will plow through at times.
Don't know what factory ammo is around but normally can get Hornady ammo for it, but I have the 550B set up on it. Those little projectiles are.a bitch of.a thing.

I wonder if we'd be able to get new barrels out from CZ?

The amount of use mines getting I'll need a new barrel eventually.

Anyone got any ideas of what kind of barrel life they get @Wirehunt

I know of CZ rifles with more than 7000-10000 shots, guys doing gopher's shooting, out here in western Canada, 500-1000 shots in a day no problem, although most guys run several rifles at a time, ie .22 and a centerfire. likely depends how hot, you run them, its only 12gr of powder at a time, so takes a lot to get barrel hot.
I see CZ USA list barrels, weather we can import one, may be another story.

Hornardy, American eagle (federal), and Winchester for ammo,

Another way to acquire a 17 Hornet rifle is to have a BSA Martini Model 12/15 Single Shot .22 Rifle reworked and set up with a new barrel (or a CZ 17HMR barrel). The trigger is usually excellent as it is a target rifle and the lock time is very short. The action needs the pivoting block redone for centre fire and a scope base screwed onto the action. The barrel should be a 9-1 twist so that it will stabilise the longer 25gn bullets. If the chamber reamer used is minimum spec there will be no problems with enlarged fired cases.

The 17 hornet is a grouse little cartridge, I really enjoy shooting 4" gongs at 300plus - just hard to hear the ping lol & can be a bit fiddly if your'e an agricultural reloader like myself.

Just mounted it 3-15 VX5 on my CZ, works mint

Well since it's upside down you should sell it to me for fuck all.
I'll let you keep the scope, 1.047 inches per moa is just far to confusing for a simple bloke like me.

    Delightful little weapon..
17WSM could to be popular in NZ if/when a large order of Franklin Armory F17 rifles arrive.

How does the 17 Hornet go against South Island Wallaby? I know from personal observation that the .17m2 and 17hmr are not really adequate unless a head or neck shot can be taken.

I took a bloke wallaby shooting who turned up with a 17hmr, he assured me he would only take head shots under 100 meters.
I never contacted the guy again.

The male wallaby down her can be bigger than Labradors they need a caliber that will respect that.
