I haven’t even looked at those...I’ll check them out. Thanks!

I reloaded some the other day but had some issues with primer leakage, factory ammo shoots well but the reloads shot waaaay better. Still have some work to do however. @JohnQT if you have the money just go and buy one, you wont regret it. @GWH has a video of him smashing rabbits on youtube I think
Anschutz are definitely worth the extra money huh. I love my 1770 .223
I’m not into reloads, but know a few guys who are so that’s a possibility.
    Cheers

    Awesome video GWH!!!

While I don't personally own a 17HH, I have the original wildcat 17Ackley Hornet which the commercial 17HH was based off. As mentioned above in a number of threads it is a wonderful wee cartridge to use. It is more effective than the 17HMR but still usable in built up areas where a larger capacity centrefire may be a bit too much gun. As in the above video, I would recommend a moderator on your rifle as while quieter than an unmoderated 223, they obviously are still pretty hard on your ears.

You have inspired me to get the Cooper 17AH out and go for a wonder GWH!

Good luck if you go down this road JohnQT. While not knocking any of the brands, the Anschutz would be my pick with the CZ a close second.

I've had a couple CZ .17 hornets, for quite a few years, GWH's .17 Hornet American, once was mine. I kept the Varmint, great we Cal, very effective on small game out to 200m, perhaps 250m on a calm day. CFE blackout will get you to factory speeds, of 3650fps, much more performance than the .17 HRM for the same cost, if you reload.
I've not found it any more fiddly, to load for than any other, But depending on finger size/ dexterity, may be hard for sum people, to load.

My .17 hornet is in New Zealand, and I Miss having one around, the 20 Vartarg, is bigger in performance, but more expensive to reload, and totally overkill for ground squirrels, here is Canada, Currently looking at a Anschutz, 1771,in .17 hornet, they are $2300 cad, the CZ is $1500.

Yep the reloading is absolutely no drama, I use a seater die with a sliding sleeve (Hornady) and I think that makes the job of seating the tiny bullets so much easier, I think it would be much harder without a sliding sleeve seater.
@Noswal has a Annie 1771 in 17H, it sure is a thing of beauty.

I loved my 17 hornet, great little gun and dropped my biggest red stag to date with it. I parted company with it sadly, always regretted id. Although now id look into the 204ruger over the hornet.. the 204 is magician, but if you already have a 223 might be safe to steer clear of it with the similar cases.

    Well that's a mess lol
I'm running a Swaro Z5 3.5-18x44 on it now with the 4W reticule and a Spartan bipod, its a fantastic combination and I'm shooting comfortably out past 300Yds

I’ve knocked over a few now at 350yds and had some close misses at 400, if the bullet hits it’s target that target dies. Hand loading will really help stretch this calibers legs.
I was introduced to the Hornet by GWH after having problems with an HMR. Absolutely love the change and the Anschütz is a sexy little lady. It has made my 223 redundant as it covers all the little critters and at a push it’ll take a fallow. I’ve taken two paddock culls in controlled circumstances at 200yds. These were taken with the 25gr v-max
