Well... if you figure out approximate flight time then the amount of drift per second the 22lr is actually the best. i.e. if you looked purely at drift over an equal flight time in The 40gr 22WMR is worst and the 17hmr comes 3rd. For a 1 second flight the 17hmr is going to drift 45% more than the 22lr. So technically speaking the 17 does drift excessively, but that is mitigated by less flight time.

So it drifts less between the muzzle and the target?
