Thread: .17HMR short barrels

I am looking to shorten the barrel on my CZ 455 .17HMR for better front carry ergonomics.

The rifle is mounted in a Boyds stock and fitted with a PARD IR 008. The barrel is currently 19" and it normally wears a Gunworks .17 suppressor.
With the current overall length, and front sling, when walking up hill the suppressor tends to come into contact with the ground which is a safety issue.

I am thinking about shortening the barrel to as little as 12-13". Based on the experiment done by Bullberry, this will knock around 120fps off the muzzle velocity, but considering most of the shooting with this setup is >130m, its not going to make a nats tit difference to the trajectory.
