Well there is still a good market in the USA for straight wall cartridges it seems. Otherwise they would not do it.

I think they only do it because of the hunting rules, not because it is best for purpose. It allows them to hunt out of "normal" rifle season.
    From Wikipedia.
The .350 Legend, also called 350 LGND (9×43mmRB), is a SAAMI-standardized[2] straight-walled intermediate rifle cartridge developed by Winchester Repeating Arms. The cartridge was designed for use in American states that have specific regulations for deer hunting with straight-walled centerfire cartridges.

All that involves is a donor .223 rifle / new barrel / Dies and cheap and easily available.223 Brass , 204 brass isn’t as cheap or available, but neither is the 22 ARC .

    6mm is where it’s at
Or 22-204’no new barrel needed 80s at over 3000 viable option

I thought the ARC were based from the 7.62x39 / PPC cases so need that 0.447 base dia and 2.205 COAL for best efficiency.

The logical choice for an action is a Howa mini or a CZ that are made for 7.62x39.

The tikka T3 is made to handle a 300 Win Mag and is just a waste of space for any small cartridge.

Got the 22 ARC built. Seems it is the little bro of @Tahr’s 22CM.

    Went 1:7, 20” barrel.

Likes factory 62g and 88g. Not so much the 75g. Initial velocities down a bit, will see if things speed up.

Got the following from 5 shot groups:
    62g 3183 fps ~0.8 MOA 0.31” mean radius
    75g 2983 fps ~2 MOA 0.78” mean radius
    88g 2760 fps ~0.5 MOA 0.26” mean radius

Obviously the groups are too small, but it is a start.

Target bullet is an 80 eld-x around the 3k mark … but we’ll see.

Thats great! What action and barrel did you end up using? You are going to have a lot of fun with that.

The 80 ELDX are shooting under .75 moa 5 shot groups for me. 3,150 fps.

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

Went Tikka. Put it in hnt26. Jaco went with True flite barrel.

Put a maven RS1.2 FFP scope on it.

Shoots nice so far - but early days. Work gets in the way of spending the time I want on it.

My plan is sika roar hunt with it and the 88’s - doing the small calibre thing in real life.
