I know someone who had a extra heavy blank turned into a barrel/suppressor unit-alloy sleeve screws on by the chamber and then a cap on the end that attaches to the barrel to try and tension the whole thing. Each baffle has a o ring around it to seal the gap-these often come off when trying to assemble.
It cost him a fortune!
It's louder to my ear than a pistol with the same length barrel and a gun works .22mag can.
But,it's short and legal. And very cool.
As your going to be limited by blank diameter as to your baffle size(unless you get extra funky) I would try and maximise the internal volume to boost performance.
I love short guns so have been tempted to get something similar made but the cost puts me off.
Talked to a gunsmith about it once and he thought that if a run for made up for the 10/22 and the cost could be got down that they would sell well-but at that time he was a one man band with no time for new speculative projects and I couldn't justify the $ for a one off.
Sig have done something along these lines for 9mm.
