    22" tube .280 - realistic speeds?

Contemplating a 22" tube .280 and was wondering what speeds I would be able to achieve using the heavier 160/162gr projectiles. The majority of information I find online suggests around 2700fps - which I thought seemed a little on the slow side...?

    Cheers,

Personally I dont see why ya wanna go 20" It is not using the cal too its potential to be fair. I doubt it will lose too much though.
Do what ya want! Ya will anyway.

Yeah - I've been talking to Abe and that's the plan once I return home.

I was just curious as to what speeds the .280 can generate with the heavier pills as there's a T3 .280 on trade me that's not bad buying. Have messaged the owner can get it at a better price than listed for..... just got me thinking that's all. Will stick with the 7/08 and build something once I'm back in NZ later in the year.

Yeah the rifle belongs to seventenths from the other forum. He's only ever run 140gr pills through the rifle and has never chronographed any of his loads.

I've had good success with the 7/08 out to 500 yards but I have been thinking about a compact rifle with a little more horsepower around the 5-650 yard mark, with the potential to stretch out urther if needed. I hadn't considered a .280 but after emailing Dan Hardy - it seems I can use my 7/08 suppressor on the .280 without any issues - which got me interested. The .280 might even make the 7/08 redundant if I can get it shooting.

    Decisions.
