    22 Upgrade

    Hey everyone,

Currently I've got a Norinco JW-15, which after looking around here seems to be a bit of luck of the draw for accuracy.
After trying to sight it in myself, and a couple of the ol' boys trying to sight it in it seems like I've got myself a bit of a dud.

Currently it's just for some possums, but have been to a range and would be keen to be able to do some target shooting on the side as well

Went to the local H&F which said CZ457 and the Bergara's would be the best one's to look at.
So any deal's around for those (don't have access to the Buy/Sell section yet)? Or any other rifles else I should look at?

    Cheers

Tikka t1x would be another rimfire rifle thats inherently accurate.

I guess it comes down to taste.

Interesting the JW15 doesn't shoot?? There may well be a simple fix as they are usually pretty good.

right...so I agree with shearer on this one...
check list to work your way through...
#1 is the scope reliable??? does it shoot better with iron sights??? chuck another proven scope on and try it..doesnt have to be rezeroed, your looking to see if it will group any better...a tight group anywhere on paper or backing board still proves or disproves rifle will group.
#2 check scope rings AND bases are firmly attached..even @dannyb got caught with this one recently.
#3 are the action screws firm..what holds the metalwork in the wood work
#4 what ammunition are you using??? first one of mine loved superspeed and hated powerpoint,as much a feeding as accuracy issue, some swear by CCI others swear at it....recent batches of winchester power point have been shit, pure shit and previously good shooting rifles hate it.
#5 how bad is too bad??? an inch at 50 yards is more than good enough for 99% of what rimfires are used for.
#6 check the crown for damage, run a cotton bud around and see if it sticks anywhere, burr picks up fluff

try those and get back to us PLEASE.... these rifles can be really good with a little TLC

#1 Only have one scope, don't know how reliable it is (Fixed BSA .22 special). And the rifle doesn't have iron sights. I can pickup another optic (what would you recommend?).
#2 Can't tighten the scope rings and bases any more. Gave it a good bump and pull, wasn't budging
#3 Nipped them up about 1/8th of a turn each, but already fairly firm
#4 I've tried CCI Subsonic, Stinger, and also winchester power point (bought some a month ago, and then found some which was 1-2 years old). All shot the same, and around a 10-15cm grouping at 25 meters
#5 Anything better than what I have now, an inch at 50 yards would be a really good starting point and as you say, will get the job done
#6 Ran a cloth over and around the crown, didn't catch on anything. Doesn't look like anything is wrong with it as well

Does shoot, just in some quite big groups (10-15cm at 25 metres)

Ill be listing a Sako Finnfire 2 setup with a SUPER nice tiger striped walnut stock soon. May be of interest depending on your budget.

That's terrible! Are you using it with a suppressor?

Not 100% set on a budget, but can be more than $800-1000. Right handed.
Might take a look at them

Jws are ok Ive had quite a few over the years plus the centerfires. Chinese rifles just dont do it for me. I recon my old slazenger would out shoot a lot of them...

With minimal TLC/mods, most Norincos can shoot well -despite- the cheap manufacture. The one I did for my nephew outshot his father's deluxe CZ.

    @mudgripz Comments?

Have you tried grouping without the suppressor? If not, might be worth a go.

    #7 try it without suppressor
#8 try it with subsonic ammunition.
#9 borrow a scope for day.....as long as its reliable it will do...

10-15cm at 25 yards...does it actually have ANY rifling in barrel??? dont laugh, there were a few 7.62x39mm floating around without any....
