@c-dog...I did warn it was crude....Attachment 188973Attachment 188974
but it sure is light.....I stuffed it up by removing too much material from guts of it,but by strategic placement of shims/washers seem to have rectafied issue...will try it again to see if it shoots straight and might just have to take it for a wander.
oh and back on topic,thats an older 3x9x50mm vx111 on top...perfect for the .223.
Practice makes perfect MD,long as it helps you to shoot game.All good.
Gidday Guys - well after comparing the "candidates" the Rem Model Seven CDL won out - it's a nice rifle for an old fart who still prefers walnut and blued steel. It dates as manufactured in 2006 but presents pretty much as new apart from the soggy recoil pad. 1:12 twist so it'll get fed 55gn or maybe 62 gn pills. The suppressor that came with it is a muzzle forward jobbie, I'm still deciding if I prefer it to the other DPT over-barrel I have.
It came with a leupie VX11-C 2-7 but after reading up on here (bloody hard to go past advice from@Brian ) I've put a Sightron S11 4-6x42 up. A wee bit bigger than the Leupie but not as obese as a 30mm anything.
