After an early experiance shooting a pig with 223 FMJs I told everyone that they are gutless peices of crap only good for shooting rabbits with.

Now that I have brought a AR I choose to believe it's a awesome deer killer cos it looks cool and I want to carry it around the bush. To back up my theory I am using what I believe to be the most capable deer projectiles in it (1:8 twist) which are Barnes 62g TTSX.

Any thoughts or comments as to my projectile choice?

Definitely not an FMJ of any kind.
TTSX is pretty much your best bet.

To quantify I have not shot any deer in that caliber with that projectile.
tho have shot a fair few with 223 and a fair few with ttsxs in 30cal.

The monolithic bullets love/no NEED speed to work well IMHO, they dont fragment and spread shock outward so need speed to deliver shock.
In 30cal at least they out penetrate any other expanding bullet even driven fast, I am yet to recover one including many stags red/wap hybrids they penetrate the full length of the animal.
"Hunting and fishing" fucking over licenced firearms owners since ages ago.

308Win One chambering to rule them all.
