Going to drop my 22 in for a threading job tomorrow and wondering if i should get it shortend abit aswell haven't messured the tube but i rekon its 22 or 21 at the mo would 18 be plenty for a bunny gun ? i should think so...

Mine groups well with a 11" barrel so anything will probably work well

I like them around 16-18", there are some velocity results floating around the net somewhere showing no real velocity drop until sub 13".
Shorter barrels do get a bit louder though.

And I have a dislike for all the shortened centerfires you see on here and elsewhere.
Cut it right down. Shorter the better for offhand shots and doesn't get too heavy even with a scope and torch mounted on it. I think mines 16" even with the overbarrel suppressor, but I would've gone shorter with hindsight, by atleast another couple inches.
I beg to differ , the shorter is not better for off hand shots. however the shorter the better for a truck or quad gun (like most 22s are used)Quote:

Well ive droped it off i marked it to be 16inch from the sholder of the thread so will be arround 16.5 or so once finished
Good choice.
Have chopped/modded heaps of them and tried several lengths but my preferred barrel length is 16". Retains aesthetic appearance, reasonable weight/balance, and makes them ideal in and out of truck, on the range, and in the field.
40g power points reach max velocity at 10 inches.
give it the chop!
