I don't think it matters much if using subs. I had a Hushpower Braveheart which did a great job. Sold it to another forum member. Now have a Hardy over-barrel which does exactly the same thing at twice the price, but keeps overall gun length down a bit.
popular brand is DPT. Modular , can be taken apart for cleaning , can add or subtract baffles as wanted . I own several of theirs and have been very happy with them.
DPT are awesome, I have two of their centrefire suppressors, but haven't owned one of their rimfire suppressors. It's a shame they don't make an over-barrel rimfire suppressor, otherwise I would have happily given them my money.
im considering using an overbarrel 223 suppressor like I had on the ar...I believe that was the same 1/2 x 28 thread and used to shoot 22 out of that and was no louder than my 22 marlin fitted with gunworks 22 suppressor. probably slightly quieter.
I have 2 DPT rimfire, 1 centrefire. Love my DPT cans, you can also add and remove baffles as they are modular.
I considered a DPT over-barrel centrefire suppressor for my rimfire, but it's quite a bit of unnecessary bulk/weight to carry around. My brand loyalty doesn't extend that far!
Cannot go wrong with the DPT rimfire suppressor. Put about 3000 rounds through mine, and it has only been pulled apart and cleaned once. No signs of corrosion, so I suspect it will last as long as the barrel.
Best suppressor I have had, would have to be one of those slip on plastic ones, with a massive internal volume. Cannot remember the brand. Downside is it was F'n ugly.
I did use a centrefire 22 overbarrel suppressor on a 22lr with subs. Was no better or worse than the DPT muzzle can.
Whichever one you choose, thread halfway through the barrel if it wiggles too much it’s likely to hit the side. Dpt seems very tight fit.
I run 2x DPT as well - 22lr and 6.5 creedmoor - work great, use the 22lr with subs now nothing except the semi cycling in terms of noise.
My hearing is pretty shot so I only shoot suppressed to save what I have left

Ase ecos on the 22 and the 17hmr . Nice small profile and good noise reduction .
I dont take them apart to clean them but toss them into the ultra sonic cleaner every now and then

I used a DPT for a long time but eventually switched to an ASE eco for my 22s and leave the DPT for the 17hmr.
They have about equal noise reduction, maybe the DPT is slightly better but the ASE is far far easier to clean.
The baffles in the DPT more difficult to remove harder fouling tha the one piece core of the ASE. If I cleaned them more often it probably wouldn't be so bad but I got sick of trying to scrape out tbe inside of the DPT baffles.
Normal hunting use and a bit of target shooting wouldn't be so bad but with a lot of use the fouling builds up quickly.
My Hushpower Braveheart is still going strong after 4k+ rounds. When it breaks, I will try something else or buy another Braveheart.

I never clean a suppressor , yes they do get a lot of gunk in them and I shoot sub sonic which is dirty stuff.
Explain to me how a dirty suppressor causes loss of accuracy ?? the projectile isn't being affected by touching the fouling, internal volume maybe fractionally reduced but that doesn't effect accuracy and some people think a dirty suppressor is even quieter.
I run a DPT ( totally frozen together ) on a 17HMR and a Hardy rimfire suppressor on a 10/22, between them they consume 7000 plus rounds a year and are never cleaned but both rifles are very accurate.
Clean your rifle , clean your bore but cleaning your suppressor is not needed and the statement your accuracy will turn to shit is total rubbish.Attachment 149478
Just to show I shoot, the jar is full of 17 HMR fired brass, about 5500 rounds in there and collected in under 16 months, that's a fraction of the 22 ammo I shoot..... if cleaning your suppressor makes you feel better then by all means do it but I got better shit to do with my time

I agree it doesn't affect accuracy. I've had a suppressor on my papoose for nearly 20 yrs and that's a one piece unit , I couldn't clean it if I wanted to but the rifle is still pinpoint accurate. That said I occasionally take our dpt's apart and give them a wipe simply because I can. Call it pride of ownership...
@Ftx325 yeah maybe one too many :P , sorry if the reply seemed a bit abrupt but I don't like assumptions when you could ask a polite question and have an informed conversation that we maybe both could learn from as well as other interested forum members.

I’d get one that can be taken apart for cleaning, not to say one piece don’t work. the sonic method not doing much. During the lockdown I had shot nearly 5000 rounds through, Although in 4 suppressors I am glad they are the sectional ones.
I've tested it with both my suppressors and after 2 bricks of CCI standard velocity through them they need cleaning.Quote:

I guess I was wrong about you not shooting much 22 but I'm not wrong about cleaning rimfire suppressors.
I ended up buying a DPT suppressor form Wilsons Hunting when I picked the rifle up today. Thanks for all the help!
Hmm I must clean mine, probably had 10000 rounds through it since last clean. Don't seem to notice any difference. Usually fire between 250 and 500 rounds of .22 per night so bugger having to clean them all the time :thumbsup:
