    26" Browning's

    Hi all
Anyone have first hand experience with Browning's, in particular their 26" barreled models?
Looking at a new 6.5mm based 08 cartridge tops rifle and the extra 4" or 6" over most typical rifle models like a Tikka or Remington makes it attractive for the extra approx 150-200 fps I could get out of the extra tube.

    Cheers

I had an xbolt in 7mm rem. 26" barrel. By all accounts it was extremely accurate and shot the 140vld into a ragged hole at just on 3200fps

Looking into the exact same. I can vouch for my Xbolt in .270. Sub MOA from the day I got it. Looking at the Xbolt max or Hells canyon in 6.5 prc for the longer range stuff. I would buy one tomorrow based on the experience of my Xbolt but would also like firsthand confirmation from someone who actually has one. I'd expect 1/4 MOA with Hornadys ELD x.

dude, stay with the .270, load it with 150gn high BC boat tails and with RL26 you can get 3150fps ..... that will match a PRC any day. Manufacturers came late to the 270 with high BC bullets, but they've arrived, those and RL26 breathe life into the 270 for ranges way past 400m.

I don't know if 1in10 twist will like some of those higher bc pills? Certainly not Berger's 175. May try 150 boats. The bc(.625) of the 6.5 eldxs seems pretty awesome and with less recoil seems like a small but worthy step up to stretch out a bit.... We've also just set up a long range on farm so pretty keen to stretch out. Happy to be wrong.....the xbolt in 270 has been great thus far.
