260 Rem in Short action

Been doing some reading on some older threads on here and just wondering who is running one of these ok and not struggling with mag length with the bigger pills , looking at building one with 18 or 20 inch barrel and suppressor , seems most people are running these in Tikka's for that reason

my tikkas are s/a both running aics mags but one will be going back to stock mag soon.(just for weight) the med+ mag is the go for long 260s if running factory DBM. some chambers might not allow to be loaded out that far to cause problems anyway. eldms and many others like to jump more than you might think.

I brought a Tikka for the reason of being able to seat the high bc bullets out to the lands.
Mine will take Hornady 129sp 20 thou off the lands and fit in the med mag.
So it depends on what bullet you want to run

I had a Tikka and did the long bolt stop & mag, as they have a reasonable amount of throat length (free bore). Also had a Rem Mod7, that was too short in the mag for 140gr + and required deep seating.

I had a Sako 260, the only bullet I tried that I couldn't seat touching the lands was the Nosler LRAB (142gr I think).

If your going 260 I wouldn’t go any shorter than a 20” barrel, especially if you want to run heavier pills (if you can find them)

There’s some good 130 projectiles around, nosier 129gn, hornady 130eld-m, 130gn Gamechangers, 135gn Berger classic hunters

With an 18" you can still get over 2800fps with the 143 eldx

I run 140gr ELDMs in the standard medium T3 magazine with no worries at all, if I were to use CTR, AICS, or the T3 medium+ magazine there would be loads of space to load longer if needed to.

Thanks fellas , just the feedback I was after , I will flag building on a short action Rem , Tikka sounds like the way to go action wise for the .260 , cheers
