    3006 questions

Hi I’m relatively new to cal have couple questions, first what would be the best weight projectile? It’s an nv gun so inside 400 yards and second I like 17/18” barrel am I better off with 308 and roughly 10 grns less powder and similar speeds? Cheers

The 06 can give you 100 to 150 fps more in any bullet weight than a 308. If you're serious about 400 yds, I think there's really no advantage to be had with the 06. In either case 165 gr would probably be my choice of bullet weight.

165 to 180gn projectiles is where the 30/06 does its best work. for the short barrel forget the 30/06 and go for the 308 IMO. 30/06 would be better served with a 22" barrel.
