Why a 10 inch barrel? What happens when the cops unscrew the suppressor, making it less than 762mm overall, and then charging you with possession of a pistol?

Just like they did to that guy in Whakatane recently after they took the suppressor off a 10/22 leaving it 14mm under length. He got found guilty in Court.

10inch as only need to acheive subsonic speeds and want it as handy as possible.
Only read so far but the mini action rifles oal is 40inch with 20inch barrel. So with a 10inch should be just over legal length.

Sounds like the police tampered with evidence before rifle was measured.

any link to the ruling? I cant seem to find one, or was this the case that the Police suddenly threw out?

Well, whatever happened, they measured it with the suppressor off and it was 14mm under legal length and the judge agreed and he got found guilty.

There was something about him getting in a fight, him calling the cops saying had had a gun to protect himself if he needed to and the the cops turning up and taking his guns.
