    300wsm

Any one using this, got any comments, for ? against ?. ease of reloading, I can get cases, versus 300wm, where bullet weight runs out or is to big to run in a mag, ?? etc, anything really.
Thinking , sit and shoot rifle, not carry about, so weight not a factor.
Thinking 85 Sako laminate but could be persuaded otherwise,....... maybe
    cheers.

    For.
But has a lot more recoil than a 22-250 and 6.5x55.
Should be just enough for stopping those charging wounded wallabys though...

Im shooting in a fairly light model 70 and took the muzzle brake off. Shooting 220's and I never find recoil an issue and Im built like a stick

what barrel length without the brake toby, and do you find it noisy compared to other magnums you've been about.

No idea but it'd be 22"-24" at a guess.

I've never really listened to it like that so not sure. It can't be too bad as me and my mates have no worries shooting it

mine is a tikka laminate so the poor (read better) version of what you are wanting

I have only shot the 168 amax and a few 180 accubonds.

Have some 190berger to try now that will hopefully be a bit of an all rounder.

Brass seems to be always available from gun works, $105 per 50 for norma last time i checked. Rifle doesnt boot to bad, i dont have a brake or anything

yeah a good Bc 190gr was about what I was thinking, dunno how they would go with a 208gr amax, if it would cut down speed so much that there was really no point, sort of thing I'm hoping people who have tried it will post about as well.

i think @Smiddy gave the 208 a go and the velocity dropped quite a bit

Mines a suppressed weatherby vanguard and i'm running 208's at mag length getting 2800fps. Recoil is not an issue. Had a brake but prefer the suppressor.
I also tried 178's/180's and finding a load was relatively easy but there's something sexy about those 208's
Can't really think of any negatives for the calibre but do wish the vanguard had a longer mag, though there's nothing wrong with the speed and accuracy I'm getting

Just checked my notes - COAL 2.850in with projectile deep in the case and its a compressed load. Average fps is 2760 verified at 600yds - forgot my chrony reads 30-40fps more than actual speed.
Using Win brass/2209/cci LR primer. I havn't included powder weight as its over book max but safe in my rifle - brass on 5th reload and primer pockets still tight/ no ejector marks/ no sticky bolt.
Tried norma brass but couldn't get same results.

My sons 85' Bavarian is a 300 WSM.
A mate reloads for it, 165 gr SGK's doing 2985 fps..... Winchester brass, that's all I know.
He's a big Hua, so doesn't mind the recoil.
It's much sharper, quite a belt or whack compared to my 7mmRM.
He got his first Chamois buck a few weeks ago with some other forumites in the Lewis Pass, 475 yds...bang- dead....same as all his Reds.
