    300wsm

Thinking about getting a 300wsm but I want to chop it as short as possible and suppress it. How short can you go with this caliber while still having plenty of power/speed? I have a 300wm and a 308 bush pig which I want to move on and replace both of them with one allrounder that's a lot more compact than the winmag but more power than the 308. Cheers. Cam

The shorter the barrel the harder it is on the suppressor. You might need to look at a DPT with S/S blast baffle.

Ive just brought a 300wsm to do the exact same thing, Ive heard dont go any shorter than 22''. So maybe 21'' would be sweet. Those SILENZ Ti alloy suppressors are for short magnums by the looks. Check their website out. Spose if you go too short you get into that deminshing returns situation. Im still yet to decide what im going to do because I've got to get it to shoot first. Ive also seen Hardy does short 300wsm's,maybe give him a call.

I've got a 300wsm.Took it to Scott Trail at SSRNZ.Cut to 20 and put one of his magnum suppressors on.Super quite and good recoil reduction.
He didn't recommend going any shorter.Getting just under 3000fps with 165gr Ammo.
Pole axed a yearling at 596 yards with it last night.

Scott has currently got my A7 270wsm and is putting a 20" Hardy 300saum barrel on it for me. Performance should be hard behind Monk's 300 wsm 20" (above). Maybe even the same with the saum because its a bit more efficient case than the wsm.

FYI. 20" 300 saum 168 NBT 2,976fps. 150 Barnes 3,186fps (have settled on the Barnes and dropped .5 grn for 3150)
    Wonderfully accurate with both loads.
