    Factory Sellior and Bellot worked well in my old 6.5 and Partisan /PPU makes it too so 6.5x55 for reasonable ammo or better is the same price (ish) as the 308. So I would still go 6.5x55.

    you can still buy very good factory ammo for the 6.5x55. I have had one and loved it. never had a 308 but I do have its big brother the 30/06 and like that a lot. 6.5x55 would be nicer to shoot. my 2 cents worth
