Norma still make brass and factory ammo for it, I think guncity (horrors!) have some and gunworks have brass.
308 Norma Mag Norma 180gr Soft Point
Gunworks Ltd - 308 Norma Mag
Great calibre, expensive to set up but on you have brass and dies no more than any other .30 calibre.
Workshop Innovation have the cheapest brass at $98 for 50.
Go for it, rare calibres are
H&K man on here has one. Maybe worth sending pm
I believe the cases can be made by necking up 7mm Rem mag or necking down 338 Win mag, it's a great calibre i knew a couple of guy's back in the day that had them very good long range hunting round every bit as good
as the 300 Win mag. Robert.
Just rung gun city bout ammo. 124 dollars for 20 180 gr rounds. No brass available. I'm tempted to buy it but it might sit in the cupboard a fair bit . Apparently they blow scopes apart regularly too
Wouldn't reckon they would break good quality scopes any more than the other belted magnums.
Gunworks and workshop innovation have brass.
If you don't take it and its a good deal pass in the details, I might be keen!
Never had an issue with scopes on my 30-338. Even an old weaver k4 survived.
Just bought it. Thort to myself, why not, only live once. Will need dies now as too dear to buy factory ammo
Bet you some one at gun city told you bout the scope.
good on ya, 308 Norma, always liked the idea.
Parker Hale is it?
Is your mate from queenstown area?
No, he's my ex nieghbor from south Waikato. He and his wife are touring the south isle. I did live in qt for about 3-4 yrs but got the hell out as its far too plastic for my taste. Good hunting once out past the loopy boundrys
Going through an old thread I realised I didn't post a pic of the rifle.

They are extremely accurate and rated as the best designed 30 cal magnum, being very powder efficient and having longer neck than the win mag. Around 70-71 grain IMR4831 behind a 180grain will give between 2950- 3000fps. Never had scope or recoil problems with mine. Most recoil problems are due to wrong heel - toe angle at the butt; if the toe pressures more than the heel on your shoulder you will get whacked with almost ant centrefire or shotgun. Hornady make good dies for this cal. NZ Ammo are wholesalers for norma brass.
Yea, I only feel the recoil at the range, probably cos I'm thinkin too much.
Out on the hill, I'm too busy huntin to feel it so it's all good.
I don't want to an anti-socialiser on it ( gotta think of the pooch).
Max loads for 300win mag are overloads for 308 Norma mag. The 308Nmag is a more efficient cartridge and uses less powder for similar performance.
