    .308 vs .300blk

I知 after some help. I知 unsure about which of these will best suit my needs, will be using these with subs and supers. Will be shooting deer, pigs and goats, most likely get a semi. Ranges will be shooting from close upto maybe 300m.

I知 considering the .300 as I can just get a upper and use the same mags as my .223. Feel free to share thoughts and experiences or even suggestions

There are significant number of people on this site with P endorsement.

Are you handloading and how many rounds/day/week etc.

.308 is always a winner in my book.

But why not the .223 you already have??
No hand loading, hunt full time for work. After something with more knock down and I do urban deer control so subsonic is best in built up areas

If you don't hand load then it is the 300BLK subsonic loads for .308 are not readily available unless custom loaded by some one.

300blk is a great cal, but is no quieter than 308 subsonic
I used a 308 up to getting a 300blk and they are functionally the same with the 308 bieng easier to feed as its long and just more stable
no contest if you have an AR as 308 isnt gunna fit so if thats the platform you want to run
300blk wont really do 300m well as its running out of puff a bit by then

anything starting with a .4 is going to be significantly louder.

You're looking for something that starts with ".4"
Won’t be shooting that far with subs, they are for close range stuff

Is 300blk really that much better than a heavy .223? Looking through some ballistics charts it appears similar energy at anything other than close range... maybe the specific cartridges I looked at.....

To be fair I had entirely forgot the P endorsement still exists. Apologies

Factory subs for 308 pretty easy to find these days. 308 way more versatile imo.

And where exactly is 'urban deer control' required in NZ? Asking for a friend.
