Cut it to 18" perfect for what u are after.

    Will u sell both 308 and 280?
@Dama dama good question! Would simplify things! The 280 has its place I think though. That place is in open country! 24" barrel rifle feels like carrying a fly rod about after the bushpig. But man do those 162 eld's flatten deer! I think the 308 would probably go..

It just seem alot of the country I've been hunting recently has been a mix of thick bush stalking but time also spent glassing slips and bushline that can offer 400m odd shots when the animals pop out further than you expect! Really mixed hunting terrain.

Hmmm, if keeping 280, why not just get a good compact dial up scope for .308. Tje 150gr BTs should be fine out to that distance.

Nope if it was me I'd leave it a 20inch especially if you want to reach out a bit
BC doesn't matter, until you need to dial

Won't make a difference either way. Pick one and go hunting.

Either cartridge will do the job.

My partners go to rifle is a 20" 7-08 Tikka now using 140 BTs at 2890 fps with DPT & super accurate right out there.

I'm against cutting them shorter if you want to use them successfully further out, up to 200 it matters not

My 22" 284 Tikka is definitely a little long with the DPT on it but with the 150 ABLR steaming along it works great

We need to run suppressors as we are often fairly close together shooting Goats etc, we use earpro when there is time

Mu understanding is you can still ethically shoot out to 350m with a 16" .308 with hand loaded ammo with fast powders. I'm going to try and figure out a load that I can use to accomplish that.

I load my 16”ish 308 with 125gr accubond. Only doing 2650fps. My daughter just shot a boar at 255yds, head shot it. Complete penetration. I’d be happy using that combo out to 300yds.
Load is Winchester brass, federal 210 primer 46.5grH335.

The pig was walking across a slip and the scope was on 3.5x. Good or fluke got the pork on the deck. My wife is always asking for me to shoot a pig. My daughter missed a pig at 70yds about a year ago, so she was stoked to get this one. We cooked the filet on a stone over an open fire, it was delicious.

    Nicely done!

Tried the 125AB's and wasn't to impressed (going 3k tho). I know plenty of folks rate them. 150BTs for me in the 308.
