That'd fit in an R8 action, surely. There's a place in Germany that seems to make custom barrels for it.

The R93 will already go there (in the Tac2 and LRS chassis) so it will work (chamber wise) in the R8.
You're looking at the 338 in something like a Professional stock?
Ask Abe, he should know but it will only be the barrel profile that will limit you and there is already 416 chamberings in the R8 and R93.
Getting a magazine may be the only real problem I could see.
Pretty sure the Blaser LRS .338 Lapua barrel mounting is different from the standard R93. I think the stud pattern is different where it attaches to the stock.
10MRT shooters do it 60 times, in two directions and at two speeds.
Not really interested in a custom one, but it'd be neat if it was a factory option one day.
A big long 338 barrel with the appropriate muzzle break or suppressor on an R8.... That's going to be pretty
Who said anything about long.... 20 inches sounds about right.
Nope they are the same stud pattern but the 338LM chassis has wider bolt rails (37.3mm Vs 33.3mm) than the standard R93 action. This is to accommodate the larger barrel diameter at the chamber (33.9mm Vs 28.9mm).
The R93 barrels & bolt heads will fit in the LRS2 338LM/Tactical 2 (see below) but the head is too high for the barrel, due to the bolt being positioned for the larger barrel diameter.
BTW I don't think the LRS came out in 338LM, there is a LRS2 338LM but that is a specific model, having the aforementioned wider bolt rail. The LRS2 338LM then became the Tactical 2, which is offered in .223 Rem, .308 Win, .300 Win Mag as well.
