Going through my cartridge collection and found one with 351 and 94 stamped in its base.
It’s not a 351 SL but appears to be a 7.62x39.
So any ideas why the 351 headstamp?

Likely to be a Chinese factory number is my guess.
Yes, the best I could find was "unknown factory peoples republic of China."
Thanks guys, a coincidence that it’s ‘351’ eh!
I see other 7.62x39 headstamps have ‘311’ on them. (And I notice the primers seem recessed, is that common on the Chinese ammo?)
I found the same answer with 311. Here's a link I found my answers from that you might find helpful with other cartridges.

Found a semi rimmed cartridge of 6.5x51 (approx) with no headstamp, just three stake marks holding the primer in place, any ideas on THIS cartridge?
Oh and ta for that headstamp ID link Allizdog!
Edit: Google says it’s probably a 6.5 Carcano, the one I have has a very long projectile.

6.5mm Arisaka was my thought. That has a 50.3mm case length, semi rimmed, and the 3 primer stakes.
The 6.5 Carcano is rimless.

Great, Arisaka it is.
Once again the forum has come to the party.
Dont know but around 1962 I was hunting with an SAS friend who was an armourer. He always toted a 351 winchester semi auto compact rifle.
