Because is a legitimate reason!
:wtfsmilie: that would be up there with the most stupid "tactical" accessories for an AR15. Actually I think it takes the cake.
Who said anything about an AR15?? You can get them with standalone stock setups.
It seems like it would be fun to shoot at things. Which is the whole point of guns.
You want that beehive round? Biggest issue would probably be getting one out of the US
Beehive maybe or smoke or whatever or you can load your own rounds to shoot bird scaring rounds and stuff it looks funner'n hell
I saw Cleaver Firearms in Queensland are advertising them as "coming soon" which got me interested. Shouldn't be a problem getting it out of the US, 37mm stuff is all unrestricted there I believe, Maritime safety use and all that stuff, probably not even ITAR?? who knows. I doubt I'll bother looking into it but a few hundred bucks for a silly big gun thing that goes "phloonk" sounds reasonable
I just asked Sandy if she can send me one
I don't think I'll buy one, will let you know if they'll export though.
Sorry, we are unable to ship item 100-007-033 internationally due to Dept. of State regulations.
Thanks,
Niesje
Good job Brownells. Won't even ship me a US Palm/Tangodown AK grip. IT'S NOT DDTC REGISTERED. Balls
Well if they hasn't spent the last sixty years pissing off the whole world...
I reckon we're lucky we can get AR/AK parts fullstop. DDTC could declare them SME any day they want.
It's just frustrating. Like everything about owning guns in NZ!
Have been thinking about making a golf-ball launcher that used modified 12-gauge shells, my initial sketches ended up looking a lot like a M79.
Actually speaking of beehive rounds, would something that fired them be classed as a shotgun or a machine gun?
A beehive round is an exploding projectile that expolodes at a predetermined range usually between 0 and 2000m, projecting foward a large number of steel flechettes or darts, in a cone shape. It was created for the 105mm howitzer in Vietnam and used as an anti personnel, direct fire, ammunition. It reportedly was very effective, even nailing the hands of the enemy soldiers to their wooden stocked rifles. It was called beehive because apparently 8000 supersonic steel darts sounded a bit like a swarm of bees.
Something that fires a beehive round would be called ARTILLERY and most likely very illegal.
I take it you mean a canister round? which is like a giant shotgun shell pretty much, and would maybe classed as such? They make such rounds for grenade launchers to give them a close quarter capability, either with buckshot or flechettes. These are sometimes called beehive just because its a cool name.
Do some of you fullaz have cannons? Id love to see some pics I saw one as a kid that lobbed D batteries, never got to see it fire but have been captivated ever since.
Always had the idea of converting a hydraulic cylinder...one day when time and money allows:(
Whats the velocity of a .22 out of a 2 1/2 inch barrel?????
It would be a neat fun accessory. Wonder if the rifle would remain an Acat with an underslung? certainly makes a pistol grip or bayo lug pretty lame in the scheme of things.
Well it's not an E cat feature!
But a launcher under 762mm is probably legally a pistol if you use beehive rounds in it rather than actual flares.
Still think the point of having one is lost without the TTHHOONK of a 40mm going out. Makes me want to reenlist,,,,,, nearly.
Had a neat cannon as a lad, ran it on Rost Off, fired an empty stubby clean through a car door easy. Then we modded it to run oxy/acetylene and it started to get a bit crazy, like 600m crazy. Gave it up before it failed and took our arms/hands. May build another me thinks, now with a bit more skill in the engineering department.
I put built two cloned lpg "spud" guns that would fire a frozen orange well over 600 yards. Had to be frozen or it would disintegrate on leaving the barrel :D

the last spud gun I used nearly took my fingers off, I was very glad to see them and promptly counted them straight away.
Lesson learnt for me.
PVC is for water not chambers of home made spudguns
Mine was all stainless steel. Pvc would give me the shits.
