I think this should be done....
Let your imagination run wild - just 'cause its 3D printed doesn't mean its shite - it just means you can do some really creative stuff!
And you can make pockets to insert metal reinforcement if needed

I saw something about a 3d printed dog jaw from titanium a while ago. Can't see why it wouldn't work for a gun part

I have a 3d printed suppressor, and plan to buy more of them-it far out profirms all my others in every way except price-and it's not to far off there

Only using a CMMG .22 upper but it shows promise.

    Cheers

Interesting Video about the rise of the AR15 which includes a bit about 3d Printing.

Warning its 42 minutes long but its very interesting to AR owners. This played in the USA April/May last year

A .22 upper doesn't use the buffer system and that's where the failures usually are: receiver extension snaps off.

"3d printing" with titanium etc is a far cry from the do it yourself at home machines, ie, a couple of orders of magnitude of cost

Ti is a pretty dumb material choice for a lower too since Aluminium works 100% fine at a much lower price point etc

Yeah from what I have read the have got it to the point where they can put 100-200 rounds before it self destructs.

But if you can do it for cheap, why the hell not i suppose.

I imagine it would just be cheaper to buy a Alu lower than 3D print a Ti one.

Be a good thing when this new type of self healing, super tough plastic IBM just invented turns up on the market

Because actual good quality milspec aluminium lowers are $79.10 from Brownells and will last around 1 million times longer

So true but remember the lower is the only part that is a registered part with a serial number, by printing you are by passing all official checks. All other parts of an AR a 10 year old could bye over the internet. Print him self a lower and he's got one mean killing machine. If I was 10 I would print one off...if I had a printer.

Wanna try to at least appear somewhat socially acceptable?

Fortunately it would be rubbish and break after a handful of rounds!

An A cat lower is also "unregistered"...

Like all new products, things improve over time.
Even an A-Cat lower you still need a firearms licence to purchase.

this technology has been around for a while now in america and it hasnt yet turned into the wild west

generally ten yearolds dont have enough money to purchase barrels, bcgs, gas tubes, buffers, triggers, uppers, gas blocks, magizines, handgards, sighting systems and all the rest of the pieces that make up an ar15

if they do then where is the money coming from? without the lower thats still hundreds of dollars plus a degree of skill all for something that during testing the first magazine would fail.

and then there is the bullet suituation.
    licence once again required

I can remember the paranoia over SPAS12s - until someone pointed out how much they cost vs the average crim's budget
