6.5 PRC is also an option, and so is .280 Rem
See the thing is that after shooting the mighty .270 for 40 odd years ya tend to get a bit set in ya ways, especially when mine shoots so well, and then to be told that .270 in a carbon barrel is like rocking horse shit......well whats the world coming to!!! I mean fuck me!!!

Anyway, have to make a D fairly soon , and get on with it
What carbon barrels have you looked at?

Mines got a 20 in barrel because its a hunting rifle.
used 100 g tsx's at 3300 fps for a few years now and very happy with the way they kill.

Why 6.5? Keep it relatively simple and go 280 or 284. Can download with smaller pills or on that lovely action you have run the 160gr range

I haven't used any of them but I'd personally do a 6.5-284 or a 280ai. Quality brass and dies would be easier to come by I think, also pressure tested load data to give an idea of where to start.

Yes if going 7mm (and why wouldn't you) the 280AI would be perfect in that action.

Yip, Southfort as well, and no joy
Problem is the bolt face which doesnt have enough meat to allow machining.
    So its 6.5 x 06, 6.5 Creedmoor, or .280 Rem

    Sorry. I don't understand. They can do a carbon barrel for a 280 but not a 270????

Yip - so Ive been told. No demand for the old .270 so no tooling available.

Ok. I thought the 270 would outnumber the 280 10:1 but there you go.
