Thread: 6.5 B's and C's

So I've decided its time to stop thinking about it and actually get out and chase some of those mysterious deer creatures that everyone keeps raving about

Hence it is time for a new deer suitable rifle. After much deliberation I have decided on somthing in 6.5mm namely 260 rem or 6.5x55. Primarely as I have never owned or shot one, and they both seem like very interesting calibres, and secondly as they are a bit lighter shooting than some so the missus can have a play too. It will likely end up cut to 20' with a can.

I have been looking at the following:

Howa 1500 6.5x55 - Seem to be a decent quality rig, my only misgivings are that they are a bit heavy (not a game changer just an overall consideration) and I have heard that they are quite long throated and can be picky about what they shoot.

Tikka T3 6.5x55 - Utilatarian, will do all I want, but as I live on the North Shore I feel like I am just perpetuating the stereotype .( I spose at least its not 7-08) They are good rigs and are familiar to me, but being so common dont appeal to me as much as some.

Savage 16fcss in 260 - Slightly pricier but less common and every one I've heard talking about the has said they are shooters. Plus the super easy barrel changeouts is a bonus later down the track.

Dont mean to start another 'what gun is best' thread, but if any of you fine gentlemen have experience with the above mentioned rifles or have another idea to put forward (or better yet a boomstick to sell me )
