    6.5 cal addicts

What real world (accurate) speeds do you get in 6.5 x284 with 140gn pills ?
How does this compare to the Swede or 260 ?

2950 to 3050..... in terms of functional performance from what I understand.... its about the only one of the 6.5's that i havent owned.

Had a 6.5x55BJAI that i ran at just over 3K with 140s but the 6.5x284 should have edged that by a fraction..
Just built a short 6.5SLR 16.5" barrel and it looks like about 2800fps with 130's. Had a 6.5x47 and it run at about 2750 with 140's out of a 20" barrel. Crazyman had a strong 6.5x55 Sako that he was running at 2900 with 140's. Had a 260 Rem in Sako 85 running Superformance with 143 ELD's at about 2850 ex Dale..

    I like my 6.5's

Currently building a 6.5 Saum that should run 140's up to around 3200 for a bit more powder in a 22" barrel..

    Ya dreamin...

    SAUM won’t get 3200 in a 22” barrel.

264 win mag has a 26” and Kiwi Greg’s SAUM has the same length was not getting 3200 with 130’s.

Nothing is free and but you can get high velocity with the 264 with RL33 and 140’s 3250-3300...

I've managed 3503fps with with a 140 and RL33 but makes brass single use. It's happy as at 3350

Maybe... but the SAUM seems to have quite a bit of variation in performance from rifle to rifle. Some struggle to get over 3K and then find speed increasing after a couple hundred rounds... most running the GAP versions seem to settle around 3100 for the 140 and a little bit more for the 130, but those are not screwed up performance wise.

Personally I will probably run the SAUM with a 22 barrel and 130's at hopefully a touch over 3K and still have some barrel life.

Beaker - SAUM on a Lone Peak Ti, Bartlein 2B and Manners EH8 with a Bix N Andy Tacsport trigger..

    Oh - so just like a 270, for some reason I seem to remember that 3000 with a 130 is the standard load . . . .

    Ok long ball here.

6.5 300 WBY surely that'd take the cake for the 6.5s?

If not and call me old fashioned but the hell does a crudmore do that a swede can't do better?
