I run a 20" and have used the ELDX in the Creedmoor and the .260 and have not had a lack of expanding issue.
But then I shoot for the shoulders not heart lungs. They work well up close and out far, another good bullet is the 142 Nosler LRAB.

What FPS are you getting for that at 20"? I am going for a 16" 6.5 Creedmoor hoping to get around 2550fps out of 140~ grain and about 2700 out of 120~ grain which seems achievable from what I have read.

As for 6,5, I have one in x55 and it does everything I could possibly want.

Even though I recommend 308 full disclaimer I have a shortish 260. With the 140eldms i shoot them over 2700 without cranking it too hot and have shot good sized reds out to 270 with devastating results. Put 2 shots over a fallow at 570 because of a zeroing error but even at that range it would have been a very dead deer. At 775yds I am still doing 1800fps~and have 1000ft lbs~

I cut my Ruger American predator down to 19 in. Using superformance powder still getting 2740 fps. Shot reds out to 400yds with no problems using 143 eldx. Just a joy to shoot and no problems hitting gongs out past 700mtr.

    20' barrel 260. 143 eldx at 2750f/s. 2209 powder
Same speeds I get with my 6.5 creedmoor.
    200m front chest shot.

I have shot many deer with my 6.5 creedmoor and love the lower recoil.i have taken big red stags out to 680 yards and dropped them on the spot with 143gr eldx....with all shots out past 300 yards it has been like a grenade went off in their chest...all closer shots however the projectile has gone clean through with not much expansion...still kills them though. So I would rather use a 308 up close...either way they are both great calibers

@Filthman what length barrel / fps are you at? I think that cutting the barrel down to 16-18" will drop it down to 2600-2700fps and it may expand better at closer range...while still having the legs for a 450m+ shot.

    Just saying

You can’t kill anything deader than dead hunting is more about shot placement than anything else
If you put a 140 out of a 260/creedmoor and a 178 out of a 308 into the same spot on a similar size animal at similar distance you wouldn’t notice the difference

Hell even a 120gn of good Construction out of 6.5 will do 95% of hunting to 400 in nz
    So will a 95 out of a .243!
