Recommended twist rate 1:8 seems to have the best data for 7prc

Just get a creedmoor then you don't have to muck around with bolts tops etc to load a decent bullet

140-147gr 6.5mm bullets of the right construction at 2600-2700 fps kill things extremely well with light enough recoil and good ballistics to hit things. There's tons of ammo choices and it's as cheap as anything else. It's what I recommend any new hunter looking for a rifle to buy

Is it a 600m deer cartridge? generally no. Should most people be trying to shoot deer at 600m with anything? also no

    (get a .223)
    Interesting, @gimp.

I recall you were a .260 guy at one stage ( maybe still)? Any particular reason(s) you'd recommend a Creedmoor over a .260 Rem? Factory ammo availablity?

maybe he has grown a man bun so it just sort of fits in?????

funny reading this and the 308 v 243 threads and seeing same things said differently

then chuck in the 223 on deer thread......

I dont give a flying fig what you shoot your deer with ,as long as you can cleanly kill it each n every time..hell I know guys who regularly use the 22 magnum rimfire...... not my cuppa tea,but cant argue with results.close range in spotlight on private land.

    I've got a .260 still, haven't shot it since 2020, .223 works. 6.5cm didn't really exist as an option when I got the .260, I wouldn't get a .260 today

It isn't a big deal to do with a Tikka but the problem is Tikka have stopped making a 260, I think I bought the last one in the country but ran out of time to reload/development with kids taking up my spare time so sold it to @andyanimal31 , I think he still has it.

But yeah these days the creedmoor makes sense with all the factory ammo, as you say even as a bush gun they work well I've seen it first hand.

    Yep still got it,
I rate it as a chambering even though I am a 6.5x55 slut.
Many years ago a good mate wanted a low recoiling rifle for his teens to use.
    I couldn't get a 6 5x55 so got the 260 instead.
Before it turned up he mentioned it to some acquaintances who had never heard of it and tried to talk him out of it.
Needless to say when he went out goat shooting with them they were not happy that he was the one getting all the kills!
There were a few questions about this amazing chambering over a few beers that night.
A shame that it isn't getting continued but with factory ammo near impossible to get no surprises there

6.5 CRM Gel Test for 300 yards and 600 yards. The 300 yards wound channel should be enough for any mid size deer.

Add another Gel test footage of 6.5 CRM at 600 yards with ELDX ammo. Video at 8:20m showed wound channel.
