    6.5 saum

Was thinking of a new toy for a bit of an all rounder, handy enough in the bush but could stretch it out for the odd trip down south, shooting something like the new eldx 143. What would be involved in making one from a t3 in either 260 or 6.5x55. So what do you guys think.

Some gunsmiths don't like reaming out Tikka barrels because of the hardness of the steels. Also the thinner action/barrel diameter at the chamber can cause extraction issues at the higher (but safe) pressures.

Why not just AI a .260 or 6.5x55?, if it is uber velocity you want out of a 6.5, get a 6.5-06 or .264 Win mag.

In my 6.5mm SAUM, I can get 3050 fps with 62grs H1000. This is from a 24 inch barrel, and not far off a .264 with the same barrel.

Probably a better idea to just re-barrel a WSM as it sounds like you don't already own the donor rifle.

Its not so much the amount of powder but more about the burning rate of the powder.

How long is your barrel & which powder are you using ?

    I do have 6, 6.5 & 7 Saum's for sale
