    6.5 for smaller game, thoughts?

Currently own a 6.5 creedmoor and a 223, 223 seems to get left at home as when i am targeting wallabys (which i have the 223 for) i am grabbing the 6.5. Is anyone using lighter varmint rounds in there 6.5 cm with good effect? If so what factory brand and grain? As its a tad expensive shooting roos with the precision hunter eldx. Cheers.

the fad will fade....unless you are reloading using bigger cartridges gets costly on roos....the 223 with varmint projectiles is awesome roo medicine
now if you want to use 6.5 find the softest/most fragile load you can and use that....I have feeling the winchester deer season would fit bill as it is similar to the old school silver tips in its fast opening....

Why not try loading the 100gn Amax/ELDM's? the 6.5mm Caliber offers so much more over a .243.

90gr TNT or 90gr Nosler Varmageddons with 2206H, BM8208 or 2208 but you will use twice as much powder as the .223rem and the bullets are twice the price too. Faster bullets and more fast burning powder will burn out your creeds throat faster too.

I once loaded 100gr NBT's in my 260, had them going 3300 fps from the 20" model 7. Took them to Stewart Island for my first ever crack at whitetail.

I ended up shooting two whitetail yearlings with that load, holy shit did it sack them hard. Literally like they got struck down by a bolt of lightning.

So im sure the 6.5CM could achieve the same velocities. But it still seems somewhat of an overkill for the wobblys. I know how the 223 can perform on goats etc out at 300 odd yards, i cannot imagine a wallaby would be harder to dispatch than a goat.
